Cornish indie four piece Blue River returned with their new single ‘Kiss Kiss’, released on the 2nd of October via These Bloody Thieves Records.
‘Kiss Kiss’ is the band's second release of 2020. Blue River are Perran Nicholls (lead vocals/rhythm guitar), Marc Willoughby (lead guitar/vocals), Adam Knuckey (bass guitar/vocals), and Brett Buddy (drums/percussion). The band's name is taken from a track by the Rock’n’Roll king himself, Elvis Presley.
From their looks to their musical style, Cornwall indie/punk/surf four piece Blue River just ooze rock-star cool. Their latest single is no exception.
Following on from their last single ‘Tetsuo’, the band continue sprinkling their magical formula of lo-fi gritty vocals, and banging riffs to deliver us a delicious taster of the rock and roll lifestyle.
Coming in at only 2 minutes in length, this song is fast paced and sexy, and musically on a whole different level to any of the bands other offerings.
With it’s lo-fi, gritty vocal and banging riff, it harks back to the anthems of indie past – for fans of the Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, Catfish and the Bottlemen. The band are honing their sound and finding their feet in amongst the heavy hitters of the indie scene.
The song is crying out desperately to be played loudly through an amp at a gig or a festival. It makes me miss being part of a crowd and dancing in the front of an audience. Play it loud in your bedroom and use your hairbrush as a microphone to blast away those lockdown blues. In the meantime, until we can have those days again, be sure that Blue River will keep working on these bangers for when the time comes.
