Belgian post-punks Marcel are comprised of Amaury Louis (vocals), Maxime D’Hondt (guitar), Benjamin D’Hondt (bass) and Ulysse Wautier (drums).
They describe themselves as "a lame cat with cymbals attached to its tail", their music "owes as much to Jonathan Richman as to Steven Gerrard's powerful strikes; to Sonic Youth's twisted guitars as to German expressionist painting".
Making a name for themselves with their energetic live shows, they have already shared stages with the likes of Yard Act, Italia 90, LICE, Slift and Tramhaus.
Debut album "Charivari" (out 3rd of March) was just released via Luik Music (It It Anita, Annabel Lee, Endless Dive) and Idiotape Records (Tramhaus, The Pleasure Dome). The album was mixed by Ben Hampson (DITZ, Blood Red Shoes). It is an authentic pocket-sonic-survival-manual for the young and not so young who are caught up in the never-ending world’s end.
Latest single 'Playroom' is the opening track on "Charivari", which is a glorious mess of a record. It’s a three-and-a-half minute punk fury mixed with North African, Caribbean and Brazilian influences.
