Mewn announce 'Such As This' EP, set for release 23rd of September, and share new single 'There Is No Substitute'.
Manchester art-rockers Mewn are comprised of Daniel Bluer (guitar, vocals), Rachel Bell (guitar, backing vocals), Matthew Protz (keys), Daniel Cowman (drums) and Tom Allen (bass).
The emerging quintet only formed in 2021 but already garnered praise from publications such as NME, DIY, So Young and radio play from BBC 6 Music (Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq, Stuart Maconie).
By listening to their beautiful indie rock you can clearly hear the influences from bands like Timber Timbre, Arcade Fire, Big Thief, Nick Cave and Radiohead.
Detailing their upcoming track release, frontman Daniel Bluer explained:
"The first part of the song is a meditation on how our worlds and lives are shaped and influenced by others, the costs and benefits of that. The emotional intensity and urgency ramps up a lot in the second part. It has a feeling I relate to a lot, building up of heightened emotions and tension and racing towards this catharsis or release through whatever means possible. I hope the end of the song achieves this".
