After the release of his debut single 'Reality Shapes' (released 26th of May), art-punk project Steak Blake shares latest effort 'Wonderbread' (out July 14th) via Just Step Sideways Records. Blake C. Joshua, aka Steak Blake, uses his solo project as a creative output. Raised in Minneapolis, his musical heritage included acts like Hüsker Dü and Babes in Toyland. After moving to the UK in 2019 he joined London based DIY punk outfit Beige Banquet with whom he toured the UK and Europe, sharing stages with acts like Shame.
His captivating art-punk style resembles Minutemen or XTC and the new single draws you in with its angular guitars and dynamic vocals.
Explaining the track, Joshua explained:
"The song was made as a reflection, written during my time back home in Minneapolis, during lockdown, when George Floyd’s life was taken near my moms house, and I focused my thoughts on recalling some of my own bigoted run-ins with authority".
Assisted by Rob Slater (Yard Act, Thank) on production, Joshua delivers an unmistakable and charming introduction to his musical identity
