Dublin/London duo Nixer are already three singles deep, and released their fourth single 'Relax' on the 4th of January. The accompanying video will be out 21st of January.
They are still finding their feet in the music scene but have already grabbed the attention of NTS Radio, RTÉ, 98FM, FOURFOURMAGAZINE, GoldenPlec and Hot Press Magazine among others.
If there was ever a mantra we needed to hear at the start of 2021 its “Relax”, the title of the latest single by Electronic duo Nixer. Using beats to provide reassurance is my kind of therapy. This is no soothing background music, but electronic anthemic dance music to be played at full volume so that you can release your worries. Filled with positivity the intention is to use a driving synth bassline and a stylistic Irish vocal to allow us to breath and remember to take it easy. Just close your eyes and lose yourself in the euphoric sounds. The lyrics remind us to “relax, just let go”, over and over, providing a calming influence to help deal with the present.
Technology has meant that the duo have been able to produce music despite being separated by the Irish Sea. What began as an online conversation at the onset of the pandemic has developed into a unique sound. All Nixer songs are written, recorded and produced remotely by Seán Keenan and Gearóid Peggs in their humble DIY bedroom studio setups in London and Dublin respectively. The Nixer sound comes from a fusion of two very different musical backgrounds, a fusion that perhaps would not have happened if it had not been for the current pandemic. The result is what some are beginning to call “Éire Wave”, but to be honest whatever it is called, as long as it gets you dancing amid the current uncertainties, that’s more than enough for me……
