Reading duo VALERAS have been writing, recording and working towards their debut album during the pandemic. They have now released their new single ‘The Other Side’ following on from ‘Rita’ which was released in May.

'The Other Side' has an indie-rock vibe but with a heavy synth line which perfectly complements the driving guitars and drums. Singer Rose Yagmur provides a strong vocal full of power and passion, which considering the theme of the track is the perfect delivery.
Drummer and co-songwriter Max Sealy explains the lyrics behind 'The Other One':
“'The Other Side' speaks about letting go of a relationship that does more bad than good & finding the strength to do so. It’s a story about coming to the realisation that the toxicity is stopping you from your full potential and from flourishing into something better.”
Rose is from Venezula and has talked of impact of her upbringing on her music:
"I was born and raised (in Venezuela) and then I did all the crucial growing up, the teenage years, over here (in the UK). I don't consider myself 100% Venezuelan, but I wouldn’t consider myself English. I think the culture clash, leaving the family behind, just general experiences I've gone through from moving here has affected my song-writing."
The band have worked with award-winning songwriter and producer, Tarek Musa (of Spring King / Dead Nature) as well as Claudius Mittendorf (Weezer, Parquet Courts, LIFE) for mixing duties, and it has led to a merging of their frenetic indie-rock with a more melodic alt-pop sound. And the addition of that synth which gives another sonic layer to VALERAS is pure class.
