I love hearing rock and roll, garage and punk all thrown into the pot. Ladies and gentlemen I give you The Rafters. The 4-piece from East Lancashire have already been played on Soccer AM with previous track 'Slippin' Away'. On 5th February they released new track 'Reasons'.
Opening with a burst of thrashing drums alternated with a tight guitar riff, this is a fireball of a song. Clear vocals which are almost spat at us, the emotion is so strong. Written during the first lockdown it refers to confusion and anger. There are so many unanswered questions and the pent-up frustration of our current situation explodes to create the power behind this track. "Give me a reason, give me a sign." Trying to understand the reason behind the pandemic, the political decisions and our resulting lifestyle is just exhausting. "Gonna steal our money, and our jobs as well", these short sharp lyrics add to the urgency and intensity of 'Reasons'.
The Rafters have been working hard in lockdown with at least two more songs ready to go in 2021. Can't wait to hear more from this band who I hope will continue to shout from the rooftops......
